231. Temple bells at Kangra

Temple bells, hung at the Hindu temple gate or main shrine, people ring them as they are enter the temple. Bigger bells are made of bell metal and smaller ones, as in the picture, are made of brass. The soothing sound of temple bells always evokes spirituality in my mind.

I took this picture at the Vajreshwari Temple in Kangra. The Vajreshwari Temple is one of the shaktipeeths.

Like the temple bells, Kangra Valley echoes the glorious past of the Nagarkot city and the Vajreshwari temple. Also, tells the unfortunate story of its fall and destruction by the muslim invaders.

Well, past is past ... the temple is still functioning and is a busy place full of pilgrims!
