Aerial Kite Photography

28th February 2009

This weekend I attended an interesting presentation on Aerial Kite Photography organized by Don Edwards SF Bay Wildlife Refuge. You are interested in aerial photography and you don't have enough riches to spend on helicopter ? Buy a KITE ... hehe ... it is much cheaper but takes more effort ...

It was very interesting session followed by a demo. The session included the history of aerial photography, Photographer Chris Benton's work, wonderful visual records of South Bay salt ponds and wetlands. The demo included the use of kite, equipment description.

The camera harness allows horozontal rotation, and the orientation of camera from landscape to portrait modes and vice versa. These movements are controlled by a 5-channel radio.

I don't think I will ever do this kind of photography but, to know someone's innovative work in order to help environment is an amazing experience. These pictures were taken with my Palm Centro, pretty good huh ?
